How has Artists in Action benefited you? Last fall, Artists in Action surveyed its members and has posted the results of the survey on its website. We asks members several survey questions, for example:

“Artists networking – benefits of sharing…”

“Shows – sales, exposure, recognition…”

“Presentations, show info, meeting other artists...”

Here are some of the responses we received:

“I’ve met wonderful, like-minded people who have opened up their own opportunities generously so that others may also benefit. The community is also richer for the diversity of art that might not have been seen if the artists worked alone. I’ve learned quickly much more than I could have on my own… what goes on to putting on an art show or event from how to hang the art, publicity needs… variety of painting styles, marketing, and the sheer physical work involved with setting up and taking down an event. The camaraderie has enriched my life…”
"I am grateful for the support of other artist friends whether it’s for emotional encouragement regarding my art, or a simple question of art technique someone can help me to use. The exposure to new ideas and meeting the people who ‘run’ the art world has been greatly appreciated.”

“The opportunities I found through networking with this group is remarkable. I learned in the first 2-3 meetings what I couldn’t have learned in 5 years on my own. The support and sharing and encouragement of other artists is unbelievable.”

“AiA has given me the opportunity connect with other artists at my own pace. Being relatively new to the “Art Scene”, the information I gained from AiA is priceless. Answers received from other members … about how to finish a quality product such as prints or magnets, or how and where to market the art has helped me to be more confident…”

“More importantly, however, are the connections with the community. Salem, be it in visual or performing arts, still has a way to go and AiA is a road for painters, sculptors and potters to be embraced by the community with events such as “Paint the Town”, “Covered Bridges” and the “World Beat Festival during the summer months, and “Something Red” for December with merchants in downtown Salem exhibiting art that ties in with Christmas.

“AiA has a website with lots of information easily accessible for anyone interested in finding an artist to commission a piece, becoming a member, or to check out a few of the many events that AiA is involved in.”

Wow! Thank you to all our members who responded!
