Year-Round Events

FIRST WEDNESDAYS in SALEM
The first Wednesday of each month, downtown businesses open their doors to art from 5-8 pm. Artists in Action members exhibit their works downtown in shops and galleries participating in Salem's First Wednesdays throughout the year, helping bring visual arts into the downtown community.

SPINNAKER PLACE
Artists in Action's ONLY continuing exhibit space for AiA members is located at Spinnaker Place in Salem, Oregon. Chairperson: Melody Fahey. Please Click Here for details.

CCTV

OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS
We join with other art groups - music, theatre, dance, poetry, and other area art groups to enhance, cross-pollinate and cross-promote arts in the community! Please contact AiA at aia...org to share opportunities.

Spring Events

"PAINT THE TOWN!" (May-August) http://aiaptt.org
The first event of the 2016 is the 18th "Paint the Town!" This is an annual event of "plein air" painting that culminates in an exhibit at Elsinore Framing & Fine Art Gallery in October. All artists are welcome to participate, whether an AiA member or not. The fee is $20 per artist and includes participation at all sites and eligibility to enter the show.

This year AiA has two new components to this event.
The poets of the MID-VALLEY POETRY SOCIETY (http://oregonpoets.org/mid-valley-poetry-society-salem-area-unit-news/ ) will be joining in at various sites to “Write the Town!” and compose poetry about the various sites included in the event. Also new this year is a workshop presented by well-known "plein air" painter Mike Rangner of Albany.


Summer Events

WORLD BEAT FESTIVAL (June)
Artists in Action has a fine-art booth at the Salem World Beat Festival. This annual multicultural event is held at Salem's Riverfront Park. Members who sit at the booth are encouraged to bring their artwork to sell. Chairperson: Patricia Young at: younga...net; http://www.worldbeatfestival.org

"PAINT THE TOWN!" (May-August)

"OUTSIDE THE BOX" (July)
A Silent Auction Fundraiser for Artists In Action at Salem Art Fair & Festival. Members are asked to create and donate one or more embellished boxes to be silent-auctioned in our booth in the Cultural Corridor. ALL proceeds go to Artists in Action! (SAA does not take a commission.) This is also an opportunity for AiA work to be seen at the Fair. Willamette Valley Open Studio Tour: Returning in 2016!
The Tour is being revamped, reinvigorated and re-ignited for Fall 2016. The Call to Artists in available on the Tour website at http://wvost.org

"PAINT THE TOWN!"
Enjoy many beautiful locations in and around the Salem area to paint "en plein air." Since 1998, "Paint the Town!" has attracted many artists and spectators. Fall-Winter Events

It is time for Something Red 2016!
Artists in Action's Annual "Celebrate December-Something Red" Art Walk, Show & Sale is coming soon! The prospectus is online now so get your artwork ready. The success of past years demonstrates that this event is one of the highlights of the holiday season for Salem area residents by contributing to the vitality, ambiance, and sense of community of downtown Salem.
